The Timber Collegiate Summer League (TCSL) is where high-level development meets the classic American summer. We know the grind of the spring season is long—that’s why we’ve built a league designed to keep you sharp without burning you out.

LEAGUE INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Men Only
- Ages 18 – 25
- Games played on Monday – Thursday from 5P – 10P
- Team Size: 22-man roster
- All umpire fees covered
- 7-week regular season followed by an 8th-week tournament-style playoff.
- Playoff Eligibility: Players must participate in at least 50% of regular-season games.
- Timing & Mercy Rules
- Duration: Standard games are 7 innings. Championship game is 9 innings.
- Grace Period: 10 minutes allowed to meet the minimum player requirement.
- Register as a full team, join a team or register as a Free Agent (players looking to join a team).
- Lineup Exchange: To ensure fairness, full rosters (including last names and uniform numbers) must be exchanged before the game. Teams are encouraged to bring a pre-prepared roster form.
- NO PRACTICES PROVIDED. Fields may be rented at a discounted rate for league participants. See Rental information page for more information.

LEAGUE POLICIES & RULES
Equipment & Uniforms
Safety is the league’s top priority. Strict adherence to these rules is required.
Footwear
- Turf or athletic shoes only
- No metal or plastic cleats on turf fields
Batting Helmets
- Double ear flaps required
- Must be worn by all batters and runners — no exceptions
- Must be NOCSAE approved
Catcher’s Gear
- Full catcher’s set required
- Must be NOCSAE approved
- Recommended: Athletic supporter/cup
Bats
- Maximum 2 5/8″ diameter (BBCOR)
- Maximum weight differential: -3
Game Play & Schedule
Season Format
- Duration: 7-week regular season + 8th-week tournament playoff
- Game Length:
- Standard games: 7 innings
- Championship game: 9 innings
Scheduling & Curfews
- Weeknight Games: Start between 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Curfew: No new inning may start after 10:00 PM
Field & Staffing
- Field Dimensions:
- Pitching mound: 60′
- Bases: 90′
- Umpires:
- One plate umpire per game
- If no umpire is present, coaches may mutually agree on a spectator to officiate
Mercy Rules
- 15-Run Rule: Game ends after 5 innings (if trailing team has batted)
- 20-Run Rule: Game ends after 3 innings (if trailing team has batted)
- Applies to all games, including playoffs
Pitching & Offensive Rules
Intentional Walks
- Limited to one (1) per game
- No pitches required — notify the umpire
Hit Batsman
- Pitcher must be removed after hitting four (4) batters in a game
Extra Innings (Speed-Up Rule)
- If tied after 7 innings and another game is scheduled immediately after:
- Next inning starts with the last batter from the previous inning on second base
Safety & Contact Rules
Slide & Collision Policy
Intent: Protect defensive players
- Legal Slides:
- Head-first OR
- One leg/buttock on the ground
- Must stay in a straight line between bases
- Illegal Slides:
- Rolling, cross-body, or pop-up slides that contact a fielder
- Raised legs above the fielder’s knee
- Sliding beyond the base to initiate contact
- Penalties:
- Interference: Runner and batter-runner are out (if fewer than 2 outs)
- Flagrant Contact:
- Automatic ejection
- Player cannot return until meeting with Program Director
Decoy Rule
- Legal: Strategic decoys (e.g., fake pop-up to hold a runner)
- Illegal: Fake tags without a play
- Result: Runner is safe + all runners advance one base
Weather & Standings:
Game Cancellations
- Determined by the complex 2 hours before game time
- Once play begins, the umpire has final authority
Official Games
- A game is considered complete after 5 innings
Standings Tie-Breakers
- Overall win/loss percentage
- Divisional record
- Head-to-head results
- Scoring differential
