COED KICKBALL LEAGUE

LUMBER YARDS ADULT KICKBALL LEAGUE

Welcome to the Wood Chip Adult Kickball League, where the rubber meets the road—and then flies directly into the parking lot! We’re reclaiming the playground’s greatest hits and bringing them to the big leagues. Forget the gym membership or the stress of your 9-to-5. Kickball is the ultimate sport for adults who want to burn off the work week, expand their social circle, and rediscover the pure adrenaline of sending a big red ball soaring into the sky. Zero Athleticism Required!

Haven’t run since high school? No problem. Our league is built on the holy trinity of adult sports: teamwork, questionable sportsmanship, and the post-game celebration. Whether you’re a former middle-school legend or just in it for the team shirts and the post-game rounds, the Wood Chip Adult Kickball League is the place to be! Lace up your sneakers, stretch those quads, and let’s make some mistakes.

LEAGUE POLICIES & RULES

Gameplay Regulations
    • These regulations outline how the game is played, ensuring a structured and enjoyable experience for everyone involved:
    • Kicking Order: Team captains must submit a kicking order to the umpire and opposing team before the game begins. Late players can be added to the bottom of the lineup. The lineup needs to be staggered, not all females can kick in a row.
    • Scorekeeping: A member of each team or a fan must keep the scorebook.
    • Substitutions: Players may be substituted out and back in two times during the game (injuries are an exception). They must assume the kicking order spot of the substitute. Kicking out of order results in an automatic out (except in the case of injury).
    • Game Duration: Games are 7 innings long. If extra innings are needed, you will be allowed to go an extra 2 ( 9 total). Whatever the outcome is after that will be final. A game is official if 4 innings have been played
    • Mercy Rule: A game is considered final if one team leads by 15 or more runs after 6 innings or 5.5 if the home team is up.
Pitching, Catching & Fielding
    • These rules govern the pitching, catching, and fielding aspects of the game:
    • Pitch Speed: Pitches must be slow to medium speed and may only be spun lightly. No missiles!
    • Live Ball: The ball is considered LIVE until it is in the hands of the pitcher, who is located inside the pitching circle. Players must go to the nearest bag. If the pitcher makes a motion to make a play (even while inside the circle), runners may advance.
    • Catcher’s Position: The catcher must field directly behind the kicker and may not cross home plate before the ball is kicked.
    • Fielders: May not volley the ball in the air to make a catch. Fielders may also not kick the ball back into play. Purposely dropped balls to make a double out will count as a single base.

Kicking, Running and Fouls
    • Understanding the rules around kicking, running, and fouls are vital to playing a good game of kickball:
    • Kicking Rules: All kicks must be made by foot at or behind home plate and inside the kicking lines. A kick in front of home plate or outside the kicking lines is a foul.
    • No Bunting: Bunting is not allowed. A bunted ball is a foul.
    • Running Rules: Runners must stay within the baseline. Fielders must stay out of the baseline. Neither leading off base nor stealing a base is allowed. A runner off of his/her base when the ball is kicked is out.
    • Fouls: A count of four fouls or 3 strikes constitutes an out.
    • Walks: You may NOT intentionally walk a kicker . Doing so will result in a double.
    • Homeruns: A ball kicked over the fence will result in an automatic home run. A ball kicked,  but bounces over the fence will be an automatic triple. If an outfielder hits the ball over the fence, it will be considered a LIVE ball.
